Eyebrook regular boat angler John Eaton of Horncastle enjoyed his last outing of the season and caught ten hard fighting rainbows on a combination of boobies and crunchers fished washing line style. Tony Tibbert of Market Overton and Stuart Bilsdon of Uppingham boat fished on the drift and caught on a combination of crunchers and foam back daddies.
Pike fishing began at the beginning of the month at Eyebrook with lures and sea dead baits, one the best fish caught weighing 20lb was caught by Andy Baldock of Northampton on a lure. Sean Cahill caught a fine mid teen pike on an 18cm lure as did Adam Ford of Milton Keynes with a well-conditioned 16lb pike, and many other pike anglers have caught good numbers of jack. More recently a 25lb 10 oz pike was caught on a float fished dead bait by James Dawson the heaviest pike recorded during the 2016 pike fishing and Jobe Burnham also caught a 24lb plus pike on a dead bait.

The Eyebrook Fur and Feather Boat Competition was held on Sunday 30th October 2016, the last day of fishing at Eyebrook for 2016. The event was well attended and all enjoyed Eyebrook hospitality. Although the fishing was challenging due to a near flat calm for most of the day, many anglers caught a few trout. The eventual winner was Bob Margery of Little Bowden who caught six fish that weighed 12lb 4oz, runner up was Dave Chadwick with five fish for 10lb 9oz and the prize for the heaviest fish was won by Mark Hunt with a 2lb 12oz rainbow. Many thanks to all that attended and made it such a friendly and most enjoyable event. All monies raised at this event will be donated to our chosen charity The English Disabled Fly Fishers Association, Registered Charity No 800452.
